Agriculture and rural development

The EU policy in the field of agriculture and rural development aims to ensure sustainable development of agriculture and to support rural areas in tackling a wide range of economic, environmental and social challenges. The policy should enable the EU to ensure viable food production, sustainable management of natural resources and a balanced territorial development.

To ensure that unnecessary costs are removed and rules are as effective and efficient as possible, since 2015 under REFIT, 37 initiatives have been adopted and 3 are pending adoption. Moreover, 4 evaluations have been finalised.
