on the appointment of the Head of the Civilian Pillar of the European Union Support Mission in Lebanon (EUSM Lebanon) (EUSM Lebanon/1/2026)

THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38, third paragraph, thereof,

Having regard to Council Decision (CFSP) 2026/2296 of 12 October 2026 on a European Union Support Mission in Lebanon (1), and in particular Article 3 thereof,

Whereas:

(1)

Pursuant to Article 3(1) of Decision (CFSP) 2026/2296, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is authorised, in accordance with Article 38, third paragraph, of the Treaty, to take the relevant decisions for the purpose of exercising political control and strategic direction of the European Union Support Mission in Lebanon (EUSM Lebanon), including the decision to appoint a Head of Civilian Pillar upon a proposal of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (the ‘High Representative’).

(2)	On 30 September 2026, the High Representative proposed the appointment of Mr Robert Edwin BOER as the Head of the Civilian Pillar of EUSM Lebanon from 1 October 2026 to 31 October 2027.

(3)	A decision on the appointment of Mr Robert Edwin BOER as the Head of the Civilian Pillar of EUSM Lebanon from 1 October 2026 to 31 October 2027 should be taken,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Mr Robert Edwin BOER is appointed as Head of the Civilian Pillar of the European Union Support Mission in Lebanon (EUSM Lebanon) from 1 October 2026 to 31 October 2027.

Article 2

This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.

It shall apply from 13 October 2026.
