As one in the series of reports to highlight the contribution made by the Community research infrastructure programmes, this publication will be of interest to both those in the field of science for conservation as well as those who are interested in becoming involved in transnational research collaborations. LabS TECH (Laboratories on Science and Technology for the conservation of the European Cultural Heritage) is a network of prestigious conservation institutions, established with the purpose of promoting cooperation through European countries and diffuse the highest level of research.... Research in conservation science is a very active field in Europe today due to the increasing value attributed by each nation to the preservation of its artistic and historical heritage. This research is commonly carried out by organisations belonging to national ministries of culture or to national research agencies and universities, in cooperative interdisciplinary programs with conservators, archaeologists and art-historians.
