Facts & Figures: EU support for vocational education and training 2007-2011
In our rapidly changing world, lifelong learning is the key to employment, economic success and allowing people to participate fully in society. Vocational education and training (VET), which is supported by the Leonardo da Vinci programme, can provide a route into employment or a motivation to further study, either for people of school age or for those who already have work experience. Around 10 % of European adults are currently unemployed, a figure rising to 20 % amongst young people. Meanwhile, around 76 million 25-64-year-olds have low or no qualifications.
