Research and innovation
Pushing boundaries and improving the quality of life
Research and innovation contribute to making the EU a better place in which to live and work. They are at the heart of the European Commission’s policies to boost jobs, growth and investment. Research and innovation also provide us with the knowledge and solutions to tackle both urgent problems such as the Ebola outbreak or the refugee crisis and long‑term societal challenges such as transport, climate change or energy. At the same time, research and innovation help make people’s lives better by improving healthcare, transport and security, and are the launch pad for countless new products and... services. This publication is a part of a series that explains what the EU does in different policy areas, why the EU is involved and what the results are.
