2nd World conference on photovoltaic solar energy conversion
Proceedings of the international conference held at Vienna, Austria, 6-10 July 1998. Volume III
This Conference has lifted PV into a new dimension. More than 2,400 experts from 75 countries came together to present the latest developments in research, industry, and application. This was done in plenary sessions, visual presentations, and in the exhibition in a truly global manner. During the conference it became clear that PV has moved from its pioneering phase into an era of a promising industry in both the space and terrestrial sector. Through the special features of PV, namely its modularity, global applicability, and flexible use in different sectors, this technology has not only... experienced wide and stable growth of more than 15 percent annually in the past 15 years but tends to be growing even faster in recent years. New and ambitious public programmes on the one hand and increasing commitment of the energy industry on the other hand indicate that PV is poised to become a global player in the energy sector soon.
