94 % of the EU budget is spent in EU Member States and beyond. It helps millions of students, thousands of researchers, cities, businesses, regions and NGOs. The EU budget pools the resources of Member States and brings economies of scale. The EU budget supports European businesses and contributes to healthier and safer food, new and better roads, railways and airports, a cleaner environment and better security at the EU's external borders; it increases studying opportunities abroad and cultural exchanges, among other things. The EU also delivers humanitarian assistance all over the globe.
