Synthesis report of the first five years report of Member States according to Art 118
This report responds to task 1 of the terms of reference of the Evaluation of the impact of Council Regulation (CR) (EC) No 1224 / 2009 of 20 November 2009 "establishing a Community control system for ensuring compliance with rules of the common fisheries policy”. It presents a summary of the synthesized data obtained from the 5-year reports, both quantitative and qualitative. Article 118 of Council Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009 requires that the MS submit a report every five years on the application of the regulation. These 5-year reports contain the data as defined in Annex XXXVII of the... Commission Implementation Regulation 404/2011 (CIR). Questionnaires were sent to the MS specifying the quantitative and qualitative data required to be included in the 5-year reports. The goal of this report is to present a summary of the data provided by the MS, assess the data and cross-check the data with other sources. This report furthermore assesses the questionnaire used for the 5-year reports and provide recommendations as to the relevance in relation to the CR and improvement of data gathering. The next chapter elaborates on the methodology used in assessing the 5-year reports. The chapter thereafter presents a summary of the most important quantitative data and qualitative responses provided by the MS in the 5-year reports.
