PROCEEDINGS OF THE SITTING

1. Resumption of session
The sitting opened at 17.00.
2. Statement by the President
The President made a statement following the recent terrorist attacks in London, Glasgow and Yemen. He once again condemned acts of terrorism and, on behalf of Parliament, expressed solidarity with the victims' families.
Parliament observed a minute's silence in memory of the victims of terrorism.
3. Approval of Minutes of previous sitting
The Minutes of the previous sitting were approved.

Marie Anne Isler Béguin had informed Parliament that as she would be leading the election observation mission to Sierra Leone that week, she would be unable to attend the part-session.
4. Membership of Parliament
By letter of 04.07.2007, the French authorities had notified Parliament that the procedures relating to the election of Marie-Line Reynaud, Pierre Moscovici and Jean-Claude Fruteau to the French National Assembly had concluded. In their letter, the French authorities also gave the names of those who would replace the Members concerned.
The President established the vacancies concerned with effect from 26.06.2007. He noted the appointments, with effect from 04.07.2007, of Roselyne Lefrançois to replace Marie-Line Reynaud, Pierre Pribetich to replace Pierre Moscovici, and Catherine Anita Neris to replace Jean-Claude Fruteau.
The Italian authorities had notified Parliament of the election of Marta Vincenzi to an office incompatible with that of an MEP under Article 7(3) of the Act concerning the election of representatives of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage, and had given the name of her replacement.
Under Rule 4(1) and (4), the President established the vacancy with effect from 30.06.2007, and noted the appointment of Francesco Ferrari to replace Marta Vincenzi with effect from 05.07.2007.
Francesco Ferrari had informed Parliament that he had joined the ALDE Group.
Under Rule 3(2), until such time as their credentials had been verified or a ruling had been given on any dispute, and provided that they had previously made a written declaration stating that they did not hold any office incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, Roselyne Lefrançois, Pierre Pribetich, Catherine Anita Neris and Francesco Ferrari would take their seats in Parliament and on its bodies and would enjoy all the rights attaching thereto.
