COMMUNICATION CONCERNING TARIC

(The integrated tariff of the European Communities)

The integrated tariff of the European Communities (TARIC) contains all of the trade measures in the Community's legislation (tariff, agricultural and commercial). TARIC can be consulted on the internet at: http://europa.eu.int/comm/taxation_customs/dds/en/home.htm. It is updated daily, to make sure that the public at large can find out immediately about these trade measures, and exists in the various Community languages (with the exception of Maltese). The information provided is as follows:

Tariff measures:

—

third-country duty-rates, as given in the Combined Nomenclature,

—

duty-suspensions,

—

tariff quotas,

—

tariff preferences.

—

Agricultural measures:

—

agricultural components,

—

additional duties for sugar and for flour,

—

countervailing charges,

—

refunds for the basic (i.e. not processed) agricultural products.

—

Trade measures:

—

anti-dumping duties,

—

countervailing duties.

—

Measures restricting the movement of goods:

—

import/export bans,

—

import/export restrictions,

—

quantitative limits.

—

Measures for the collection of statistical data:

—

import surveillance,

—

export surveillance.

Given that there can be changes daily among these trade measures, and in view of the ‘electronic customs’ coming into being, the Commission has decided to discontinue the annual publication of TARIC in the Official Journal of the European Union, Series C.

For reference, TARIC was published for the last time in the Official Journal on 30 April 2003 (OJ C 103, 30.4.2003, p. 1).
