CEMR promotes the construction of a united, peaceful and democratic Europe founded on local self-government, respect for the principle of subsidiarity and the participation of citizens. Our work is organised around two main pillars: 1. Influencing European policy and legislation in all areas having an impact on municipalities and regions; 2. Providing a forum for debate between local and regional authorities via their national representative associations. CEMR is also the European section of the world organisation United Cities and Local Governments, through which we represent European local and regional government on the international stage. Le Conseil des Communes et Régions d’Europe (CCRE) est la plus importante et la plus ancienne association de collectivités territoriales en Europe. Le CCRE promeut la construction d’une Europe unie, pacifique et démocratique fondée sur l’autonomie locale, le respect du principe de subsidiarité et la participation des citoyens. Notre travail s’organise autour de deux piliers : 1. Influer sur les politiques européennes dans tous les domaines affectant les municipalités et les régions ; 2. Constituer un forum de débat et de coopération entre les autorités locales et régionales en Europe via nos associations nationales. Le CCRE est également la section européenne de l’organisation mondiale Cités et Gouvernements Locaux Unis, par laquelle nous représentons les collectivités européennes au niveau international.
